Internships
Not Just an Internship ... a Life Experience!
Each year the Inter-American Development Bank hires almost 100 university students for a period of two to three months. Before the end of the internship, the departments and the interns must submit a brief report about their experience in the Bank and provide ideas and suggestions that can help improve the Program in future years. Objective: to offer university students the opportunity to learn about the operations of the IDB and to acquire on-the-job training during their vacation before returning to their studies.
Committed to promoting diversity, the IDB views greater representation of diverse groups at the Bank, including people of African descent and Indigenous Peoples, as integral to its activities with governments and civil society. Therefore, Afro/Indigenous descendants are encouraged to apply using the Diversity Intern Program (DIP) application.

The Selection Process

- The department selects the candidates.
- Due to the large number of applications, only those selected for placement will be contacted by telephone.
Benefits:

- Interns will receive a stipend of an amount which is determined on a yearly basis and are entitled to sick leave and insurance for work-related accidents or illnesses.
- Interns are responsible for their own living arrangements, travel and transportation costs.
- The Bank does not provide medical insurance coverage for Interns. Those selected for employment will be required to submit proof of medical insurance while working at the Bank.
