Fostering development through the private sector in Latin America and the Caribbean
The IDB Group promotes development through the private sector in Latin America and the Caribbean. We invest in projects that will improve the business and investment environment and we provide funding and technical assistance for companies whose projects will have a positive impact on the social and economic development of the region.
The IDB Group is comprised of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) and the Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF), which offer complementary products and services and work in a coordinated way to maximize our development impact through the private sector in the region.
Areas of Action
Improving the business environment and fostering productivity
The IDB works with governments in the region to improve the quality of the institutions, rules and regulations and policies that affect the business climate and productivity of firms, through loans with sovereign guarantees and/or grants for technical assistance.
Providing funding and technical assistance for companies
The IDB Group supports companies and financial institutions of all sizes whose investments have a positive impact on the economic and social development of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Supporting entrepreneurship in Peru
The IDB mobilized the equivalent of $36 million in Peruvian soles to Mibanco – Banco de la Microempresa S.A. to increase microfinancing to women entrepreneurs in Peru.
