Transparency and Anti Corruption

Transparency and anticorruption are important instruments for the IDB to achieve its goal to reduce poverty and inequality in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Bank addresses these issues in two ways: through good governance mechanism and working closely with countries to strengthen governance, enforce the rule of law, and fight corruption at both local and national levels.

Integrity at the IDB

The Bank is constantly working to improve its governance and anti-corruption practices. The OII plays a key role in these efforts. OII receives and investigates allegations of fraud and corruption within IDB group-financed activities, and performs prevention work by preparing lessons learned from the investigations to improve the IDB Group’s integrity policies and mechanisms. Support for Countries

The IDB also works closely with countries to increase their own transparency and anti corruption practices with projects that improve institutional capacity of both local and national governments. These actions, for example, are aimed at improving budget processes, information systems and public expenditure controls as well as assisting governments in enhancing regulations. More>>
