Yet, despite women’s increased economic participation in both developedand developing countries over the last half century, women are underrepresented amongbusiness owners, and their businesses tend to be smaller and slower growing than men’s.

The review focuses primarily on the portfolio of remittance projects undertaken by the MIF from 2001 to 2009, and secondarily on the MIF’s research and dissemination activities during that same time period. The review took place between May–September 2009.
